Fairwater’s Central Park opened mid-2020 and is a central hub for residents with space to play ball games, picnic shelters, a children’s playground and outdoor fitness stations. The park features a series of sculptures where local residents were involved in shaping their design, a boardwalk over wetlands, walking paths and bike tracks. As part of the ground-breaking ceremony, residents buried a time capsule filled with items that are dear to them. In the time capsule, to be opened in 2049, was the Fairwater community cookbook, letters, drawings and photos from residents, a signed construction helmet from the site team and a collection of photos from Fairwater community events.
